Oh how I love orange! Funny thing though, I didn’t realize how little orange I have around me until today. Poor orange, so left out. I will have to work on adding more orange into my life.

*Sign on storefront window.

*Orange flowers on the kitchen sink.

*Neglected carrots in the fridge. Will eat some today.

*Marigolds I killed. Still beautiful.

*Orange cone at the gas station.

**Thank you for the lovely comments. I am adoring seeing all the beautiful photos everyone is posting. This has been so much fun. Can’t wait to see tomorrow!!

Yellow is not always my favorite color, but it ALWAYS make me happy except when I see yellow cars. That doesn’t make me very happy. I’m loving this challenge because all day I have been noticing yellow everywhere! Several times I wanted to stop my car in the middle of traffic to snap a shot of the double yellow lines, but I thought that probably would not be the best idea.

*Yellow flowers on my desk.

*Close up of my IKEA lamp (turned on).

*Trash on the recycle bin.

*Yellow flowers on my dill plant.

*My broom.

*Post-It reminder for me to choose fruit over junk food.

I’ve decided to join in on Curious Bird’s Color Week. And today… my favorite color… GREEN! This comes up at the perfect time since we went camping on Kauai a couple days ago. You can’t get much greener than Kauai! Tomorrow I will take new shots, but I couldn’t pass these up.
*The first one is my absolute favorite!

Although for the past week, The Hubs and I have really fallen off the “Eating Healthy” wagon…today has been a good day. Back to the task at hand, creating a healthier lifestyle for ourselves. Today I tried another recipe from this book. It’s Gluten-Free Squash Bread. It turned out pretty nice although it is a funny yellowy color. I wonder what other squashes I could use. This called for butternut squash. I also added fresh rosemary. I think next time I’ll add more and maybe some other fresh herbs.
I smeared some baked sweet potato over it which complimented the drier bread taste. It was super easy so I’m sure I’ll be making it again with different variations. You could also smear some mashed avocado on top. That might be yummy.

I’m not sure where I saw this idea for using contact paper to cover your old food cans, but I have been trying to find time to try it for a couple months.
Finally did and it was so easy… here I’ve used it not only as an organizing element, but also as a little flower pot on our “brand new” thrifted table we purchased this week for $8!! I love cool cheap furniture.
I wonder what else could I cover in wood grain contact paper… HMMMMM????

Alright, so I couldn’t just throw out that cute potato stamp. Instead, I got another use out of it. Not quite as cute as the skirt, but I thought it came out ok. I made this drawstring bag to house our fabric paints. I used an old khaki pant leg of my husbands. (it had already been cut off!) It’s sturdy enough to hold a lot of things! I am happy with it, although not completely thrilled. I do like the yellow dots. (made those with a pencil eraser)

My first attempt at making an applique…the “right” way. Not sure why I settled on a pair of lips, but hey… it’s fun! (at least I think so, even if it does end up just being a p.j. shirt) My favorite part about the shirt is that the lips are soft. I used some red flannel fabric my husband had purchased a while back. I have never worked with flannel before so I hope it will hold up alright over time. Either way, it was fun and easy to make! My promise to you… MORE APPLIQUES TO COME!!

So, today was the day for potato stamps! I love simple graphic shapes so I decided to stick with that. I’ve had this white-ish linen skirt for a long time now, and it whispers to me every time I open up the closet that it wants to be stamped. Forgive the ridiculous amount of wrinkles. I was far too excited to get started on my project to do anything about them! I’m sure the photos would have turned out much nicer, but you get the idea. We have a friend whose birthday is this Thursday, so I think that’s when Miss Pink Potato Stamped Skirt will make her debut.
I’ve wrapped my stamp in Saran Wrap in hopes that it will keep ’til tomorrow. I have many more ideas up my sleeve for this image… cards and fabric and maybe a border for a small cabinet in my studio.
I photographed this stamp after The Hubs realized he carved “love” in the stamp backwards. I felt bad for him, but it was pretty funny when he pulled off the potato on our scrap fabric and it was just all wrong. It was definitely a lesson learned, but I thought it made a nice photo. I think I’ll call it, “Potato Love.”

I made my first hat! I used this video tutorial from Threadbanger.com. (love them!!) I used an old white sweater I picked up from the Salvation Army for about $1 a few months ago. I left the raw edge on the outside for a little more interest. It took about two hours start to finish since I had to improvise some of the instructions due to using a sweater that was a bit too small. But I think it turned out alright for my first try… I’ve already got “orders” to make some for The Hubs and his friend.

I’m all for Apple Computers, but for those of you who can’t seem to get your hands on one… there’s hope! You too can have the fun Photo Booth pics on the cheap. This was a total accident, but I thought I would share since my husband and I had many, MANY laughs while shooting these. Even Bonsai got in on the action as you can see below!

Who knew a plastic bag full of water could be so fun!? Try it for yourself, and share the photos!
