in transit…

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

***Thanks to Jessie, I know I have at least one fan! (thanks, Jessie!) This post is officially dedicated to her.***

I swear it was Johnny Depp!

Life has become completely insane the past couple weeks. One day I am happily living in Hawaii, enjoying the surf and sun and the next… I’m mingling with Jack Sparrow, Wolverine, Yoda and TWO Marylins! Alright alright, so we are in Hollywood. The Hubs is transferring to Washington, D.C. and we decided to make a road trip of it!

Huntington Beach

The lull in my posts is most certainly a product of this very time consuming move halfway across the world. I promise once we get settled there will be many more posts. In the meantime, keep checking back for updates on our adventure across the U.S. - up next… Las Vegas! Looking forward to the Bellagio Buffet!!

Los Angeles sans smog.

How cool is that!?

What a great way to finish the post. In-N-Out. YUM!

Unexpected Blooms

Friday, May 9th, 2008

About a month ago, my husband brought home a plumeria branch. Rumor has it, if you let it dry out completely, you can then stick in the ground and it will grow into a tree. Well, what’s the hurt in trying, right? So, I threw in down on the rocks beside the house, completely forgetting it was even there until yesterday when I turned the corner.

I was welcomed by these AMAZING little blooms. I will certainly miss these trees the most. My favorite time of the year over here, other than when the trees are in bloom, is when all the flowers begin to fall off the trees, but are still so beautiful as they scatter the ground.

Last picture is a bit dark, forgive me. I’m still learning how to use The Hubs camera. Aren’t they just the most beautiful flowers? I hope they brighten up your weekend!

“Leftovers” Soup

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Oh, how I love soup. Really, I think it’s one of the most comforting things to eat. And, oh so yummy! I really am a sucker for a good soup. *hint hint* chef husband of mine, make me a good soup! *

So… speaking of soup, earlier this week I just so happened to come across a new favorite by accident. I was so very hungry, but I am trying to eat healthy. This presents a problem because eating healthy and smart usually means more prep work, which I don’t mind as long as I am not famished (which I was). Anyway, I was low on soup ingredients so I had to just pull some leftovers together, but it turned out to be wonderfully tasty and satisfying!

Soup: 1 can vegetable broth, 1 can white beans (drained and rinsed), 1 diced tomato, 1/4 of a cabbage (shredded), half can or so of corn, salt & pepper to taste. Heat through and enjoy!

I know it sounds super basic, but it’s so yummy. Want to know a secret? I didn’t even share any with The Hubs!

Blue Friday

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

*sigh*… ’tis the end of color week… so sad. I noticed a trend with the blue in my house… it’s all pretty much the exact same color! It is such a wonderful color! Enjoy!

*Ikea vase that needs some flowers.

*Plastic bag holder I made from old tshirts.
Although, it’s been pretty empty for a while now, which is a good thing.

*My blue sewing machine. She’s been a little neglected this week.

*My yoga mat…also been neglected.

*Time for some vitamin D. Just a few minutes out in the Hawaiian sun.

*Tshirts waiting to be screen printed.

Red/Pink Thursday

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

…better late than never! Yesterday proved to be quite a very busy day! My husband is the personal chef for the US Coast Guard Admiral who oversees the Hawaiian Islands among other areas in the Pacific. He has a dinner for 10 tonight and needed help prepping and cooking yesterday. I really enjoy helping him because I learn so much and get to practice my knife skills… Top Chef here i come!! haha

Anyway… hope you enjoy these photos. Not my favorite color day I must say. I found it difficult to photograph red.
