First time Gocco-er

My first Gocco print.

For my birthday this year I received my first Gocco machine from my fabulous husband. Honestly, although I was so excited to start printing, I have been very intimidated by that little machine. I have seen all of the wonderful things others have been creating and psyching myself out a bit. Not sure if I would be able to create something I’d be happy with.

The inks. How pretty!

Well, I got up the nerve last night to try it out. Armed with a plethora of inks and ready with my photocopied design I had made earlier, I set out to attempt my first batch of note cards. I cannot even describe how excited and pleased and giddy I was as my first print was revealed!! I am so far beyond hooked to this machine! Can’t wait to create some more designs.

Gocco screen after cleaning and cleaning.

My question to you seasoned Gocco-ers, how do I get these screens clean!!?? I’ve tried and tried to get this screen clean by using the screen cleaner, windex… blotting and blotting. However, as you can see, I couldn’t get it all off… or even half of it off! Any tips on how to clean these bad boys? Also, can I reuse this as is? I think I got all of the ink out of the design on the screen.

FYI: I will be putting a batch of these notecards in my Etsy shop soon! Will keep you posted!

I love the print! I just get excited staring at my inks (and pics of other’s inks). The ink stains the screen no matter what you do. Hold it up to the light. As long as it’s clear where your image is, your ok. Make sure no ink is left in the image area. If you’ve cleaned out the image, you can definately re-use. I re-use my screens all the time. I use Goop to clean my screens. Works like a charm.

Hey girlie- happy first time Gocco-ing! Yeah, I second what Tina said.
As long as your image area is clean in the light, then you are good to go.
It’s part of the joy of screening- the left over stain of a project- proof
    that you were there! Would love to hook up with you and do a project;
I miss projects, I’ve been so consumed with parents and kid(s) that all
my paints and screens are trapped in a box. I think I hear them screaming
for release now…. Oh, and I have cheated and used Goo-Gone on my screens
    with success. :)

OK So you don’t know this but I am obsessed with notecards. I would like to be the first purchaser of your note cards. I love them in that color and eveything. So sign me up for a box and let me know if you are doing paypal or whatever and I can let you know where to send them to!! They are fab!

    Lata!

I go back and forth on the Gocco…I mean, I want one terribly, but then they stopped selling them here and I worried I would fall in love and then have no supplies….and I worried for nothing? Are supplies readily available?

    GREAT cards!
