While not your conventional beach experience, visiting Glass Beach on Kauai was a lovely adventure! We hopped over to Kauai a couple years ago while living in Honolulu. While we were there, we stopped off at Glass Beach. There is a dump off to the left just around the bend where the glass comes from. Decades ago, locals used to dump their old cars and trash at this spot. Now it’s a lovely weathered wall of fused, rusted metal. The old car parts and garbage are uniform in their orangey-brown goodness, and have become one with the rocks and earth. It’s really remarkable.
Here are some snaps of what we experienced. It’s amazing how beautiful and interesting trash and decay can become, isn’t it? Want more info on Glass Beach? Check out this article.
So, after much debating, I’ve decided to rework the theme for Wednesdays… mainly to keep all of you from getting bored. Do you really want to hear about where we live every single Wednesday? Hm. I thought not. Wednesdays are going to be a wild card from now on. While I may post about our lives and where we live or travel, I really like the idea of keeping one day a week open to be about anything and everything.
RIP Where We Live Wednesdays. You had a good one week run.
Today, I wanted to share a couple photos of some fun we had while visiting family in El Paso, Texas this month. This was my first experience with a dune buggy, and I did not want to share the driving of this dune buggy! It was so much fun. Although I was picking sand out of my hair that night, it was an amazing way to spend an afternoon with my husband. Can’t wait to do it again.
Isn’t the desert just lovely? Dustin always jokes that El Paso has a beach. (Just no water!) Next time we’ll have to get some photos of the sunsets, you can’t imagine how amazing they are.
Happy Wednesday!
One of my favorite things about cities is the character that’s created by way of time, weather, street art and stickers! I always enjoy seeing a randomly placed sticker somewhere unexpected. This was my favorite sticker sighting on a recent trip to NYC. Dustin and I noticed this as we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. Whoever stuck that on the light had to have climbed out over traffic! That’s determination.
Have a great weekend!
Hello to anyone out there who is still checking SewTrashy! Bill, my most loyal fan, this post is for you.

I can’t believe it’s been (almost) three months since I posted last. Does anyone else feel the year flying by? Sheesh! Life has been good, busy and full of fun things. Although, not much time for making and creativity. Hopefully that will change soon.
Most recently, Dustin and I went to New York City for a quick 2.5 day weekend trip along with some of my family. We took the bus, which was super fun and only cost $4.50 roundtrip TOTAL for both of us. I mean, you can’t beat that! We had a blast while we were there. Dustin took all of these photos. Enjoy!
Grimaldi’s Pizza was amazing! Totally worth the wait. We walked across the Brooklyn Bridge which certainly worked up our appetite for pizza! I would recommend trying Grimaldi’s (and walking the Bridge!). The space is quite small and a little noisy, but it’s also cozy and fun. You can watch them cranking out the pizzas in the back. Super thin crust, baked in a coal brick oven. YUM!
Amazing cupcakes. Well, at least they look amazing! We tried the Mini Pumplin Whoopie Pies and Coconut Nutella Macaroons which were both pretty spectacular. These baked goodies come from Street Sweets. A blue lunch wagon bakery on wheels! Try it if you see it. Bring cash, unless you want to buy $10 worth of goodies on your debit card.
Here’s my lovely Mom and super cool brother. We went through craziness trying to get tickets to see West Side Story. Finally, we lucked out and paid $35 for balcony seats and ended up with center orchestra seats! Amazing. Great show. Super fun. Made me want to dance!

The only photo of Dustin the entire trip.

Wrong stop. Lots of extra walking.
Definitely earned all the yummy food we ate during the trip.
Do you have a favorite New York City restaurant or activity? I’m going back in a couple weeks, and would love your input!

Four years ago, we started our life together. It’s been a whirlwind ever since, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. We’ve had ups and downs, adventures and lulls, but every moment has added to this amazing journey we are on together… Can’t wait to see what else is to come!! Happy Anniversary, Dustin!! I love you!
Photo from a trip to Kauai while living in Hawaii. We camped. It was awesome.
Hello!! The past month has been insanely busy, and the next month is just as crazy! I can’t wait until the summer hits, then there will be a bit more down time for making and relaxing. That will be nice. But, for now… I am squeezing in posts where I can!! Here are a couple shots from the recent Cherry Blossoms blooming all over the area. They were so beautiful although, they didn’t stick around very long. I’m so happy we were able to not only enjoy them down in the city, but quite a bit of them bloomed right in our neighborhood! So pretty. I can’t wait for next year!

Shot of my mom and me! Isn’t she a knockout?
We look so pink under the magnolia tree!
Hello there. I had the pleasure of spending the latter part of last week and the weekend in NYC with some great girlfriends of mine. We had such a wonderful time, and came back at least 10lbs. heavier! We stayed in Brooklyn, and did so many fun things while we were there. We saw Phantom of the Opera, discovered this great little Thai place and made lots of memories! It was a great Girls Only Fall Trip. Hopefully, the first of many! Here’s a visual overview of our fabulous time in New York City! Enjoy.

Please forgive my absence lately. We have relocated from Hawaii to the Washington, D.C. area, and are in the process of settling in. I am so over cardboard boxes!! ha! My studio space is the next room to tackle so hopefully I’ll be making more Gocco prints soon!!! Stay tuned…
