Recently, my friend and I stumbled upon Ocean Beach and a nice, big antique store. We were driving along in my ‘72 Super Beetle and both saw the sign at the same time. In the blink of an eye, I’d whipped that bug around and swung into a parking spot! We spent almost two hours rummaging through everything there was to see.
While I saw MANY items I wanted to take home with me, I settled on these two. I’d been looking for an old scale for some time. I really liked this one when I saw it. It was right around $20 which is more than I normally spend on thrift items, but I didn’t feel it was too terribly high.
I also couldn’t resist this little Bisquick recipe box with the recipes! It was around the $15 range. Definitely more than I wanted to spend on it, but as I already stated, I couldn’t resist.
Love the colors and the old recipe cards. Makes me wonder who made all those dishes and for what occasions. I’m sure I can find them all online today, but there is something special about holding a recipe card and knowing someone (or more than one someone) has held it before you. I love that.
Hope to have more goodies to share with you next week!
I’d like to apologize for being so scarce on my blog lately. Between working, house guests, doctors appointments and the anticipation of transferring again soon… it’s been quite difficult to find time for any fun, creative antics. I am seriously ready for some DIY projects, thrift store fun and creativity!!
But for now… I have to rest through the weekend. You see, I had my upper wisdom teeth out this morning. Nothing too crazy, but apparently they just want you to rest for several days. They make this mandatory by knocking you out with pain meds. Laying in bed all day watching movies is not a bad thing in my book by any means! It’s been nice, but I do get a little stir crazy. Tomorrow is more resting, but at least I can work a few hours from home the rest of the week when I’m not doped up too heavily. *sigh*
Now you are wondering what’s with the picture of the dog. This was taken a couple years ago near the end of our time in Hawaii. Somehow I caught him mid yawn, and it reminded me of my “fun” morning of strangers poking around my mouth.
Yes, I love my dog child. I am so happy he’s part of our lives. He makes me smile every day. Especially, when he tears off running in circles around the house… just like he is doing right now! Love him! And you should too!
These photos were taken in the bathtub… after a romping in the Hawaiian red, nasty mud. Too cute! Two of my all-time favorite pictures of him.
Our dog, Bonsai, enjoys the snow. However, with two blizzards in less than a week we’ve taken precautions to keep this little guy warm and safe. As you’ll see, he is not too thrilled to wear his booties. This morning he saw me grab his booties, and as I’m walking towards him he just flopped down and rolled over onto his back in submission. Silly Bonsai, don’t you know it’s for your own good? Hope you enjoy! **Don’t forget to watch the video!
…but I have missed posting. Life has just been a bit too crazy lately. Being exhausted does not inspire me to make things! I will be happy once summer gets here because life will calm down a bit, and hopefully I’ll start making and creating the things on my ever-growing list of things I WANT to make and create! I’m also recovering from yet another oral surgery… bleh! Being an adult with braces is not my idea of fun, however, I’m hoping things will be wrapping up by the end of summer. That is something to look forward to.
I have been dying to share some recent thrifting treasures with you, but currently I don’t feel up for taking the photos, uploading and all that it entails. My pain meds are keeping me pretty couch-ridden, which I guess is a good thing since I could find all sorts of reasons NOT to rest and recover.
This is one of my favorite photos of our dog, Bonsai. Enjoy! Hope everyone had a great weekend!
…to say “hello”. I had surgery this week on my mouth. BLAH! Braces are no fun… borderline torture I say. Not too much longer to go. That’s good.
Now that I’m feeling better I hope to finish up my projects for the Crafty Daisies Book Club on Bend the Rules Sewing. This was “due” yesterday, but I was knocked out on pain meds all week. Hope to share my makes with you later today or tomorrow.
In the meantime, this photo taken by my husband made me laugh. I love our dog, Bonsai. He is such a character.
It has been very, VERY cold here in Maryland lately, so… I had to buy Bonsai a sweater since he plays outside every day! And, of course, when I saw this Kelly Green one, I knew it was meant to be. I really have a thing for Kelly Green. My friends used to call it “Whitney Green” because I loved it so much, and come to think of it, I wore a sweater this exact shade of green that I’d picked up from a thrift store. Ah, I miss that sweater. What ever happened to it?
Posing for me.
Pretty sure there is a treat hiding above the camera.
Tired of pictures at this point.
Later in the evening. For some reason he crawled on top of
a plastic bin to relax while we were swapping rooms.
And, yes, he is drinking from our water glass.
He had a full water bowl, but he prefers to drink from the glasses we are drinking from.
(No, we don’t drink it after he’s claimed it) Would you look at that tongue?!
