I came across a bag of smooth stones I’d picked up pretty cheap at Ikea a long time ago. They seem to be moved from one box or closet to another. It was time they had a makeover! Here I’ve made them into pretty little paperweights.

WHAT I USED

- any rocks, smooth stones
- scrap lace or trims
- Fabric-Tac

WHAT I DID

Decide which side of your rock you’d like to be the top. Now flip it over, and place your lace edge down to see where you want it to be glued. I pushed mine towards the center a bit so you can’t see the edge when it is sitting on your surface.

Start by drawing a thin line of glue around the bottom of the rock. Take one end of your lace and place it in the line of glue. Press gently to keep fingers clean! Do not flip right side up until glue has dried.

You may also want to place a bead of glue where the ends meet to keep a uniform look throughout the lace. Otherwise you will see two unfinished edges.

Now you’re done! Use as a paperweight or simply a pretty little addition to your home.

So, I’ve been majorly lusting after this Philosophy Jump Starters Kit for a while. I’m 26 now, which I know is still young, however I am starting to see that it’s time to put more effort into my skin care in a preventative sense. The wrinkles are starting to appear, and if I can postpone it a while that would be really nice. But at the same time, if I try it, I might love it so much that I’ll want to keep using it. What’s the problem with that? It’s a bit out of our budget. Hm, maybe I’ll stick to the thrifting for now, what with the state of the economy and all. Speaking of thrifting, check out these goodies I picked up last week. 
 

I’ve been wanting a fondue pot for a while, and Dustin bought me a new one for Christmas. It’s nice, it’s new, it was very thoughtful of him. However, this one I found for a whopping $2 has a lot more character than the brand new one from Christmas. I don’t normally go for brown, but I couldn’t resist this little guy. Dustin is insisting I keep both so we can use one for chocolate and one for cheese at the same time. We’ll see, I could get a lot of little gadgets for $20 at Bed Bath & Beyond if I return it. 
 

And, oh, how great is this fabric?! I adore it. Not sure what I’ll make from it. Looks like a child’s duvet cover, so there is a decent amount of fabric there to use. It was about $3, maybe $4. How sweet are those purple trees? VERY!

I just love IKEA fabrics. And, I REALLY love browsing their AS-IS section. A few weeks ago, I picked up 5 Dining Chair covers in this great black and white fabric. Not sure what I would use them for, but I couldn’t resist at .99 cents a piece! 

Well, my cousin had a housewarming party this weekend and I thought it the PERFECT time to use one! So, for about $2 total this 14″ throw pillow was born. Hope to have photos for you soon of her place! Trust me, you’ll want to see it!

My first attempt at making an applique…the “right” way. Not sure why I settled on a pair of lips, but hey… it’s fun! (at least I think so, even if it does end up just being a p.j. shirt) My favorite part about the shirt is that the lips are soft. I used some red flannel fabric my husband had purchased a while back. I have never worked with flannel before so I hope it will hold up alright over time. Either way, it was fun and easy to make! My promise to you… MORE APPLIQUES TO COME!!
