drawstring potato goodness

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Alright, so I couldn’t just throw out that cute potato stamp. Instead, I got another use out of it. Not quite as cute as the skirt, but I thought it came out ok. I made this drawstring bag to house our fabric paints. I used an old khaki pant leg of my husbands. (it had already been cut off!) It’s sturdy enough to hold a lot of things! I am happy with it, although not completely thrilled. I do like the yellow dots. (made those with a pencil eraser)

pink potatoes in love.

So, today was the day for potato stamps! I love simple graphic shapes so I decided to stick with that. I’ve had this white-ish linen skirt for a long time now, and it whispers to me every time I open up the closet that it wants to be stamped. Forgive the ridiculous amount of wrinkles. I was far too excited to get started on my project to do anything about them! I’m sure the photos would have turned out much nicer, but you get the idea. We have a friend whose birthday is this Thursday, so I think that’s when Miss Pink Potato Stamped Skirt will make her debut.

I’ve wrapped my stamp in Saran Wrap in hopes that it will keep ’til tomorrow. I have many more ideas up my sleeve for this image… cards and fabric and maybe a border for a small cabinet in my studio.

I photographed this stamp after The Hubs realized he carved “love” in the stamp backwards. I felt bad for him, but it was pretty funny when he pulled off the potato on our scrap fabric and it was just all wrong. It was definitely a lesson learned, but I thought it made a nice photo. I think I’ll call it, “Potato Love.”
