Wildcard Wednesday :: Snowmageddon 2010

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Maybe this post should be “Whiteout Wednesday” instead! I’m sure no matter where you live you’ve heard about our Snowstorms here in the D.C./Baltimore area. It’s almost unbelievable how much it has been snowing here since Friday afternoon. The roads and sidewalks were cleared just in time for this new blizzard today. As much as it disrupts the flow of day to day life, I wouldn’t change it! It’s so beautiful. Really, just lovely. These photos are from this past weekend where we accumulated around 26 inches of snow where we live. Photos start from Friday evening.

So far today, we have new snow of about 8-10 inches, and it won’t stop until this evening! Complete whiteout at times with wind gusts at 30-40+ mph. Amazing!

Where We Live Wednesday: Winter Snow

Snow Day

Wednesdays will be dedicated to highlighting the places we live(d), and may sometimes include locations we’ve traveled to. My husband is in the US Coast Guard so we tend to move around… a lot! We have currently been married almost five years, and we’ve moved five times (six by this summer!) It has been an incredible adventure, and we never know where we will end up. Exciting!

Currently, we reside in Maryland, outside of Washington, D.C., and about a month ago we had an insane snowstorm. (Has it really been a month?!) Here’s some of the fun we had with little Bonsai, the best dog in the world. He loves the snow, but he’s so small we don’t let him play as long as he’d probably like!

Check out this video my husband put together of the snowfall. 32 Hour Time Lapse

2nd Annual Girls Trip to NYC, originally uploaded by sewtrashy.

Does it feel like the end of 2009 flew by in record time? Now we are already almost a week into the New Year! Incredible. Hope everyone’s had a fabulous (and safe!) holiday season filled with deep love and amazing food.

I’ve been up to a lot over the last few months and will be updating you with photos soon! Took another trip to NYC, made a pair of Superhero Capes from old sheets, baked dozens of tasty cookies, took a road trip to see my wonderful family, enjoyed lots of fires, happily endured a few feet of snow, went ice skating in the Sculpture Garden, entertained house guests, updated our bedroom on the cheap and have been baking, baking, baking from my Martha Stewart Baking Handbook. ( I just love her!)

The photo above is one of my favorites taken in New York City. I imagine myself riding this little number around a tiny European village in a lovely dress and flowing scarf. And, of course, the basket contains pretty spring flowers, a freshly baked french baguette and some amazing cheeses for our midday lunch by our window overlooking the cobblestone streets below.

Ahh…. maybe one day.

Happy New Year!! Can’t wait to see what this year brings.
